A quieter
Liverpool Now this year, but still not without its charms, not least with
this trio of muttered-abouts in the Zanzibar.
Watching Big Wheels at the moment is like watching your girlfriend (or boyfriend,
come to that) try on skirts - they all look good on her to you, but you can
tell she's not found the one yet that she feels sexy AND comfortable in. But
even now, the band's take on XTC-tinged Ker-Plunk Rock will make most people
come away smiling.
Remember Yeah Jazz? Nope, so thats just me and Peter Powell, then. The sort of band who mean everything to a couple of people, and a confused shrug to everyone else. Kneehigh fit into this category. They have songs that want to be anthemic, but at the moment sound like Deacon Blue on viagra. Worth your attention, and possible long-term bets?
Disneyporn are the closest Northern Industrial England can get to producing American Psycho, and damn right you should be scared. Standing on the precipice between being psychotically desperate and just mildly pissed off, reviewing them is like reviewing the moon landings: if you're looking for an explanation, you won't understand. Everyone should live long enough to enjoy their first post-'porn set drink. Genuinely.
