One of Hoopla's tips for the third millennium, Thinner have all the hallmarks fo a classic Liverpool band. And before you reach for the anti-Lennon pills, we don't mean they sound liek The Real People. The strand they draw from is the quirky, happy, thoughtful tradition that brought Benny Profane, The Transparents and others our way: a band who clearly spend as much time writing their songs as choosing their shades. We promised them an email interview years ago. We've finally done it.
* who are thinner, and what sort of noise do you make?
We are and its a beautiful one.
* you're about to go back into the studio - will we get to hear what happens?
Yes.
* how happy are you with the way things are going?
In our world, very happy. Were just waiting for everyone else to catch on.
* what other liverpool acts do you rate?
Vamos and er...Stan Boardman! [Stan Boardman is currently in the disused nursery downstairs from Hoopla Towers, pretending to be a gay gangster - fact. - Ed]
* what are your plans for the exciting glittery new millennium?
Dont you mean the exciting glittery new Willenium?!
* if Thinner owned a supergun, who should be sweating?
People who mime " " when theyre speaking!
* how did it all start?
With the roof collapsing at the Lomax during our debut live performance.
* how will it all end?
Probably in the same manner although at the Royal Albert
Hall!
Studio updates from Thinner can
be downloaded from their website, the snappily titled surf.to/thinner. Thinner stuff oozes through Hoopla on a regular
basis. And if you're wondering why Invicta Hifi news stories always end with
a sentence about Thinner... well, we're not going to tell you.
