They've been a dainty dish to set before the Queen. They've overtaken Madison and JubJub in the blanket flyposting stakes. Lightly derided as The Playmobil Waste, lauded as being young pretenders to John Power's throne, they clearly have a lot to offer people who like their rock sparky, straight and scouse. But what goes on in their pretty heads?
*how did the clear come together?
It was mine and Netran's idead; it all came from watching
The Beatles Anthology when they played on the roof of Apple Records - and
thinking "We've gotta start a band just to get on the roof and annoy
the police.
*how will The Clear fall apart?
Hopefully as Britains biggest selling and most successful
pop band.
*what do The Clear sound like?
We try not to sound like anyone particular, just us.
You'd be best to ask other people's opinion really (Except Paul Whelan [Liverpool
Then webmaster])
*what other local acts do you rate?
The four of us like different bands but our main four are the Real People, The Skylarks (mainly because they look the part), Madison and our old mates the Maybes
*how cool is it being a band in Liverpool?
Its sound. Liverpool's definitely buzzing again as
proven with In The City and Sound City being staged here. I think its great
just playing around the city's venues and getting to meet new people and get
your name around.
The Clear don't just promote themselves
by spray painting their logo on the city streets, you know. They've got a
website at www.theclear.co.uk and everything. You can ignore their advice and
read Paul Whelan's comments on the Clear live here.
