The drummer with the Devon-based thinknoise crew is the first to face up to the new Liverpool Now challenge, designed to find out what people not blessed with an 0151 dialing code make of our place.
You've just played Liverpool on your tour with Cay. How did you find the audience?
It was good - all the gigs on the tour were pretty similar. The audience were really up for it.
The support - I can't remember what they were called - they were really good. We were really impressed with that one, the local band.
My Mum came from Liverpool, you know...
So, on that basis, you'd qualify to play football for us...
While we were in town, we went down to The Cavern, because there's a Cavern in Exeter, of course, where we've played a few times.
What did you think?
It was alright - but we wouldn't play there...
What Liverpool bands do you rate?
Hmmm... Bullyrag. Are they still going? <thinks> We saw DbH at the Cavern - the Cavern in Exeter - and they were pretty full-on.
And finally: The big question. What do you reckon to our collosus, The Beatles?
They're a great band. I've never been a big fan, but while we were doing the album [producer] John Leckie was introducing us to The Beatles. You can see why they were fucking massive...
Muse's new single Cave is out on Mushroom Records on 5th September, and debut album Showbiz is due 4th October. They'll be returning to Liverpool to play in October, and there'll be an interview with them in Ink, the new free Liverpool listings and lifestyles guide, in their October issue.
