Continuing our occasional slightly pointless series of interviews with bands that have the same name as Liverpool bands, the London Clear talk about themselves, and their hand twins. But guess what? They're a Liverpool act too - in a way.

You're a band called Clear. What are you like?

Unashamadedly pop. Musical pointers are XTC, The Kinks and Blondie. But according to 'the industry' we take all these influences and make them our own. Basically we write stuff that is a) interesting and b) catchy enough to sing in the shower. Check out www.clearweb.org or find us on www.peoplesound.com

Where are you from?

London

Have you ever heard the Liverpool Clear?

Afraid not.

What sort of musical associations does Liverpool conjure up for you?

We did some pre-production on single up there in the studios at LIPA. For us Liverpool means late nights, a dodgy hotel, playing pool and pizza food poisoning. There not really musical associations - although Mark Roberts (the bass player) got George Martin to help him with his final year dissertation when he was a student.

How interested would you be in playing Liverpool?

Absolutely. We'll probably be touring sometime next year - but we have to get another single recorded and deal with some of the industry who seem keen to work with us. We're being pretty cagey at the moment. Any label without a decent Internet strategy is being politely told to 'wait for our call'.

Are you pissed off there's another band with your name?

Nope. There's plenty of 'Clears' - one in Sheffield, two in America (including some Christain Rockers from LA!) another one in London and a band called 'Clearway' down here too. It's a race to see which of us gets into the charts first I guess. It proves it's a great name after all.

And this, of course, is betting without threehundredclear who are also traipsing round Merseyside - at first we thought they were the ordinary Clear doing three hundred sets (which is possible, there is such a thing as purgatory.)
