Becky Bamboo was bsn's eyes for the strokes and the moldy peaches at the Fillmore, San Francisco, Oct 16th 2001:

traffic was horrible heading up to the city, so I think I'm gonna miss the moldy peaches. elizabeth had told me they were great and I was hoping to see
them. so I finally get there.. the parking gods aresmiling on me.. and I go in find that everyone is running late. whew. when they come on, the bass player
is wearing footie spiderman pajamas, the acousticguitarist looks like a viking transvestite, the electric guitarist is wearing a full length red dress
and messy eyeliner (these are all guys), the drummer is in full viking gear (minus the helmet), the guy singer is in tight pink pants (fly undone through the
entire show) and pink shirt with some sort of shawl thing going on, and the girl singer has her face made up as a cat. interesting. the songs were hilarious and
actually touching (once or twice). they kicked ass and totally had the crowd with them. I was glad I didn't miss seeing them.

elizabeth had warned me the strokes don't do covers or encores. and sometimes they come on, play their cd in order, and leave. we got one song I didn't
recognize (I assume its one of the b-sides I haven't heard yet) and the rest of the album, although not in order. julian doesn't look old enough to be let in the
fillmore, let alone up on stage drinking and (illegally) smoking. but man, they played the hell outta those songs. everybody was jumping around and
having a blast. ahh.. I needed a good, fast,knock-down concert. fast, indeed. they were on and off in about 45 minutes.

now I get a break until I see the pernice brothers on the first...
