Rule number one of spin-off TV is: the spin-off will be based around a character becoming a private eye. Rule number two is the private eye will be paired with a sidekick from the series who (i) is unlikely and (ii) he never had much to do with beforehand. Luckily for us, not only did Angel stick to these rules, but also chose to be paired with Cordelia, Charisma Carpenter's rich bitch on hard times, rather than the podgy jonathon. Giving CC the difficult 'acting a bad actor' role, she's more than repaid the faith in her. Now, all she needs to do is bring her hair under control...
